The seeds for Help Scout were planted in 2005, when the founding team started a small web design company. Through work with companies large and small, along with building a couple products, we learned a lot about small businesses, web apps and how to connect them to make customers happy. One pain point we wanted to solve was a simple way for teams to share an email inbox, which lead us to Help Scout.

The company got a big boost in early 2011, moving from Nashville to Boston and participating in the TechStars startup accelerator.

Help Scout launched publicly in April, 2011. The Boston technology community has been incredibly supportive and made us a (much) better company. The company raised $800k in seed funding from angel investors and is now profitable.

Today several thousand companies use Help Scout on a daily basis to deliver personalized customer support at scale. The vision hasn't changed; our extraordinary passion for small businesses drives the product forward. If customer service is mission critical in your business, we designed Help Scout for you.
